As far as suspense goes, the whole NEVS thing has been a rough ride, starting with the selling off of SAAB from GM, the countless deals that fell through including the rollercoaster ride that was Spyker’s ill-fated plan, and the doubt that followed. After several successful partnerships linking up, including that of Beijing National Battery Technology and most recently Orio AB (Formerly SAAB Automobile Parts AB), the factory in Trollhatten has finally loaded up some trailers with NEW SAABS! 9-3 Aeros to be exact, equipped with 220hp turbo4 gasoline engines. These cars will be going to Swedish dealerships as testers, and even though the ink hasn’t been put to paper officiating dealer partnership, if you lived in Sweden and fancied a new SAAB, you could go and buy one. How exciting is that?
Meanwhile the company is sticking with it’s intended goal of becoming a player in the international electric vehicle scene by starting production of electric powered 9-3′s destined for sale in China, where the current EV market is booming. The plan is to eventually become a 100% EV company, supplying international customers with well thought out electric cars to put monstrosities like the G-Wiz to rest forever.
