Engine mounts are what secure the vehicle’s engine to the frame or subframe. Typically engine mounts are made of rubber and metal, and in some cases polyurethane. These bushings act as a suspension system for the engine, allowing a certain amount of movement. It also provides vibration and noise dampening between the engine and chassis while the engine is running, making a quieter and smoother ride. Rubber bushings can deteriorate due to the exposure of engine oils and extreme temperatures. Hutchinson's history began in 1853 when Hiram Hutchinson arrived in France from the United States and founded the Compagnie du Caoutchouc Souple to manufacture rubber in Chalette-sur-Loing.
He has his sights set on the shoe market and before long the company expanded to bicycle tires. In 1903 production of car tires begins, with the introduction of a new manufacturing process.
From there, Hutchinson expanded their development to shoes, clothes, fabrics, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, heavy vehicles, balloons, heels, and technical products. Today, Hutchinson has turned its attention to technical markets and is a driving force in industrial production from automotive to aerospace applications.
