About Genuine Porsche

Initially offering only consultation and engineering services, Porsche did not manufacture its own designs until the very limited production Type 64 in 1939. Produced from 1948 to 1965 the 356 became Porsche's first serial production and was so successful it continued in production even after its replacement, the 911 had been introduced in 1963.

Offering a unique and exhilarating driving experience with its air-cooled, flat-six, rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive chassis the 911 legitimized Porsche as a manufacturer of sports cars equal or superior to its British, Italian and American contemporaries.

With increases in power came the demise of air cooling after 1998 but in keeping with its preference for evolution vs revolution Porsche has continued producing exciting and distinctive models like the superlative 918 Spyder today.
