Saab 900 Trionic 5 Conversion Kits Reach End Of Production

Trionic 5 Flywheel conversion

Saab 900 Trionic 5Saab 900 T5 FlywheelIf you’ve been on the fence about converting your Saab 900 B202 or B212 engine to Trionic 5, this will be your last chance.  Several factors, such as rising machining and labor costs, have forced us to bring the production of the eEuroparts.com Trionic 5 Conversion Kit to an end, and what we have left in stock is the last of it.  At time of publishing, this is approximately 11 complete kits, the flywheels are anticipated to arrive 10/23/2018.  Because of the limited quantity and the premium that commands, we will only be offering the last flywheels as part as the complete kit.

If you are going to convert to Trionic 5, we believe it should be done right.  The ultimate T5 conversion kit is the result of hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars of development, and in its current state is a perfected, rock solid solution.

Why convert to Trionic 5?

T5 conversions have been extremely popular in the Saab community because of the increase drivabilty, responsiveness, and tuneability of the system.  Gone is the aging distributor and leads and archaic fuel injections computers, replaced with a fully sequential electronic ignition AND injection system.  A sequential system injects fuel and ignites the spark plugs at an exact and precise timing, allowing the advanced computer to adapt to changing conditions to the millisecond, removing all possibility of knock or power loss without the use of a knock sensor.

Because of the fully electronic nature of this system, a highly accurate Crankshaft Position Sensor must be utilized over the standard hall effect sensor used in the stock Saab 900 Bosch system.  An accurate trigger is required, which is supplied by the machined flywheel.  A custom mounting bracket is supplied to bolt the electronic CPS sensor to the engine block, perfectly pre-calibrated for the best signal. Full instructions are [here].

Included in the SAAB Ultimate Trionic 5 Conversion Kit:Saab 900 Trionic 5 Conversion Kits

Trionic 5 Lightened flywheel with CPS machining. Blanchard ground for optimal clutch grip and feel and then dynamically balanced for vibration-free operation and improved smoothness over stock components. A special clutch pattern utilizing the the later 900T (1990+) clutch pattern to use the standard 220mm OR 228mm upgrade clutch kit is used. Earlier clutches will not fit. This pattern allows for a huge amount of weight savings to be cut in the flywheel for improved throttle response and turbo spool-up without adversely affecting everyday driving. One third of the total mass is removed for a final weigh-in of around 15lbs.  New pilot bearing is included.

Trionic 5 Conversion Wiring Harness.  Expertly cut, spliced, sealed…our proprietary wiring harness is one of a kind and takes a significant amount of time to produce in house right here in Connecticut.  Each connection is soldered and heat sealed to insulate from the elements.  Major power wires are fused. Relay block with relays are included. Special anti-abrasion shielding is used to keep everything safe.  This is a plug and play custom engine wiring harness, all connectors are included.

Trionic 5 ECU Service.  A custom engine tune is required to take full advantage of the B202 engine.

Trionic 5 CPS mounting kit and adapter pigtail.  This custom billet machined unit comes with all required hardware to mount a Crankshaft Position Sensor to the engine block to read the signal from the flywheel, using existing unused threaded mounting holes.  Additionally, a custom made pigtail to adapt the updated style CPS to the existing wiring harness is included.

Crankshaft Position Sensor.  A highly accurate CPS is included.

MAP sensor.  Required to read manifold pressure for the T5 computer to base adjustments on.

Vacuum hose is supplied to connect the MAP sensor to the vacuum tee on the intake manifold.  It is recommended to replace all vacuum bushings on the intake for the best vacuum signal as they get brittle and lose sealing ability as they age.

Throttle Position Sensor.  A direct replacement for the existing throttle position sensor mounted on the C900 throttle body.

Intake Air Temperature sensor.  This must be mounted into the pressurized air stream aft of the intercooler, common solutions include drilling a hole in the intake manifold and welding an aluminum nut on.  It is not recommended to secure via nut in the rubber intake boot.  Any local welding shop should be able to adapt your intake manifold to accept the IAT sensor for a minimal fee.

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.  This is a direct replacement for the one in the block.

Distributor hole plug.  Without a distributor on the end of the engine cylinder head, a special plug is used to cap the hole going to the camshaft.

Boost Control Valve.  The updated Trionic 7 turbo boost control valve is used, and the included Trionic 5 ECU is custom modified to adopt the more reliable T7 style BPC.

(4) Fuel injectors.  Four required uprated fuel injectors are included

Ignition coil assembly.  The fully electronic Direct Ignition Cassette is included.  The DIC fits into the stock valve cover without modification.

(4) required resistor type NGK spark plugs

All required bolts and washers are included for a complete plug and play experience.  Loctite thread sealant is highly recommended.

  1. Have been gathering the parts for the T5 conversion for a while, so this is a disappointment to see. Is there any way to get the Flywheel CPS mount kit? If not, could you post the specs for that plate so I can have it machined? Thank you – love what you guys do & really looking forward to doing the T5 conversion on my SPG.

    1. The last kits are only available as complete, sorry. The plans may be for sale at some point, but not soon. Years of development went into perfecting them so they are rather valuable to us.

  2. Would it be a possibility to ever in the future custom order a flywheel from you? And or the machining company you go through?

  3. For those of us who have a kit already, would you still be able to supply spares for any unique electronic componants that might fail on the future?

    1. Hi John, the flywheel and sensor bracket are the only things that are stopping production, everything else will still be available as long as our suppliers continue to produce them.
