ROWE Racing prepares for Watkins Glen International

It’s been about a month since the last race at Mid Ohio, where ROWE Racing was able to perch 4 drivers up on the TCR Podium, something the team is hoping to improve for the upcoming IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Watkins Glen this weekend.  The Tioga Downs Casino Resort 240 will be twice as long, however, with a total of 4 hours of green flag race time.  That’s 10 pit stops worth, something the team has been focusing on improving.  Much like Mid-O, the weather forecast for the weekend has been changeable.  With scattered thunderstorms in the cards, this is going to be a race you won’t want to miss.

The ROWE Racing engineers have been able to produce an extremely competitive wet weather setup for the cars, so once again the team will be doing a rain dance prior to Saturday’s race.  For Watkins Glen 2019, the race will be broadcast live online at at 1:55pm Eastern Saturday June 29.

Last year was an emotional whirlwind, with a max effort run coming just barely short to miss out on some champagne.  The #12 was a brand new Audi RS 3 LMS, and the new drivers were Kenton Koch and Tom O’Gorman. You can read more about that race [here].  It is customary for teams all up and down the paddock to mix things up in honor of our country for this race.  As such, the new ROWE entry wore a special edition patriotic livery for its debut.

Flash forward one year, and Kenton will once again be piloting a machine featuring a special edition livery, this time with ROWE Racing driver Tyler Cooke to tag team the 4 hour enduro.  With a lot of extra work going on between the last race and this weekend’s event, team owner Matt Moran is excited to fight for top spots on the podium. The freshly wrapped #2 Audi R8 will be joined by its sister car, the #8 piloted by Gunnar Jeannette and Rodrigo Sales.

Stay tuned for the official livery unveil

Mid Ohio was tricky, we never knew what the weather would provide.  For Watkins Glen 2019, we are going to pay very close attention to strategy.  We have found speed lately, and all of our drivers have good experience here.  We’ve had to put our heads down and prepare for Canada as well since these will be our first back to back race weekends in 2019, so to say we’ve been busy is an understatement.  With all that done, I feel good about where we are as the trailers get loaded up and ready for the Glen.” Said Moran.

In addition to the two R8’s, ROWE Racing will be fielding the #12 Audi RS3 LMS (driven by Ryan Nash and Russ McDonough) as well as the #61 Roadshagger Racing Audi RS 3 LMS (driven by Gavin Ernstone and Jon Morley).  In TCR, the two squads are looking to repeat their double podiums last month at Mid Ohio.

Watch live Saturday at 1:55pm Eastern on as the team prepares for a truly special racing event, and then immediately packs up and heads to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for part 2 of the double header over the 4th of July weekend.
