Last year marked the first time eEuroparts sponsored Lime Rock Park’s Winter Autocross and Driving School, and in short, it rocked. Even when the weather didn’t cooperate fully, Lime Rock stepped up with purpose built snow making equipment and made sure we had plenty of the white stuff to slip and slide (see the video below). If you’ve never been to Lime Rock, and are feeling blah after this holiday season, this is the prime opportunity to get back on track to spring, and get some really cool photos. All 2 wheel drive cars are required to have snow rated tires, with NO studs, so keep that in mind. AWD cars can have all season tires, but why would you not want to COMPLETELY DOMINATE the course? Currently Lime Rock Park has scheduled two 2017 Winter Autocross Days: Saturday, January 14th and Saturday, February 11th; and two Winter Driving School events: Saturday, January 21st and Monday, February 20th. Limited space is available, register here.
Lime Rock’s 2017 Winter Autocross Days
Lime Rock’s 2017 Winter Autocross is a two part program. The first day is strictly a “free track day” if you will. You can take your snow-tire clad vehicle out onto the summer driving course covered in snow and ice.
There you will get a feel for maintaining control on varying levels of traction without the penalties of curbs, pylons, or other obstacles that can leave your car dented and bruised. But make no mistake, this is no parking lot. There are elevation changes mixed into the experience, giving those of you with the ability to keep the speed up a roller coaster-like ride. There will be a few instructors on hand to give pointers if you ask, but in general this is the day that you are free to do as you please out there. We have seen people bring everything from Jeep Cherokees to Nissan GTR’s to Audi S3’s and Porsche 911s, making the 2017 Winter Autocross Days a truly diverse event. Those with fancy AWD systems will really see what all those electronic differentials are about.
Winter Driving School
If you’re not completely acclimated to driving in winter conditions, the Winter Driving School is for you. You’ll be able to test the limits of both your driving skills and your car at the Winter Driving School. With a consequence free environment free of ditches, trees, and traffic, this is the perfect opportunity to realize what you are actually capable of doing when the conditions get rough. The ultimate aim is to get more educated drivers on the road, increasing safety while simultaneously having a great time.
Throughout the 2017 Winter Autocross Days, the VIP Chalet will be open, stocked with a variety of snacks, comfortable seating, and lunch is served mid-day.
