After our DNS at Brainerd, Fart-hinder Racing (a.k.a. Vintage Ice And Gravel Rally Racing Association / VIAGRRA) was looking to get some track time to make up for it at the Road America “Drift Into Winter” ChumpCar race. A test session at Brainerd six weeks prior had revealed a few areas that needed attention, most notably the brakes. It turns out that when the anti-lock brake system was neutered in the first racing season, it de-activated the ABS pump which acted as a power boost for the brakes. As a result, the pedal was very hard, and the rear brakes were not working at all. They had not worked since the Saab’s first race in 2010! A few hours of study and it was determined that the ABS pump could be activated by re-connecting a few wires that had been clipped out. Sure enough it worked. A few other minor
Winter is almost upon us. If you live in the northeast United States (home of eEuroparts), you probably felt the sub-freezing temperatures last week. If you missed the cold, perhaps you’ve seen the Christmas displays in every department store (50 days before Christmas, but that’s another blog post!) signaling that fall is waning and winter is almost here. With that in mind, here are a few common sense tips to get your European car ready for the chilly months ahead. Have an emergency kit handy. If you don’t already have one in your car, put together a few of these basics and store them in your trunk or under a seat: Flares Blankets Boots Radio Engine Oil Washer Fluid Coolant Flashlight Add windshield washer fluid with a low freezing point. If you live in a place where it snows, you’ve undoubtedly had wet, dirty road snow kicked up on your car.
Posted on: November 4, 2013 If you are part of our email list you may have noticed that the last few emails you received contained only parts that are relevant to your make. So if you’re a SAAB customer, you’ve received emails with information pertaining only to SAAB parts. That’s because we’ve been able to determine the parts you buy the most, and we’ve tailored our weekly communication to fit your needs. From now on, our emails will only contain promotions that you care about. eEuroparts will still run sales and discounts that apply to everyone, but our weekly promotions will be targeted to your specific vehicle. After all, a BMW owner probably doesn’t care that we carry dozens of SAAB brake kits, just as a SAAB owner probably isn’t interested in reduced prices on Volvo suspension kits. We hope that these more specific emails will make it easier to communicate
Alarm clock rings at 5am and 2 groggy guys make their way into their vehicles. Ted Miller driving a 9000 CSE, flat-towing a 900S and Nick Mazzocchi strapped into a 900S with no more interior comforts other than a race seat, steering wheel and shifter. A 65 miles journey to Florida’s newest racing facility, The FIRM. http://gorally.com/ 45 miles in, Ted’s track car experienced a blowout in the left rear transport tire. A sunrise tire change worthy of NASCAR caliber speed got us back on the road. The FIRM boast 430 acres of multiple tracks at its private facility and we would be participating in a run-what-you-brung open track day event on the 1.8 road course. The parade laps went fine but before we went out for full speed, both cars experienced issues. Ted’s car required a couple swift blows of the hammer to the fuel pump and Nick’s car required a new
