You may notice now when placing your order that you will have some additional options in the checkout menu. These additional options are the result of some recent changes with the way we inventory parts, allowing us to access a few of our vendors inventory catalogs and ultimately get parts to you even faster than before. Parts that we know are in stock in another warehouse, but aren’t in stock here at our local hub in Windsor, CT will be given the option to drop ship to you with an extra fee, potentially shaving a day or two (or more depending on location) off shipping time for things you need NOW. We hope this will be convenient to use and will be fine tuning the system over the next few days.
Here’s an example of what your cart will look like when you have added a part available for drop shipping. Take for instance the rhetorical situation that you are in the sunny Hills of Beverly and you notice that your outer tie rod end is totally shot. You know as well as us that it’s dangerous to drive around like that, so you need this part quick, and will have time to work on it in 2 days. In the cart you will see the Genuine Saab tie rod end has an additional drop down menu that will let you select a different warehouse if necessary.
In this case, Orio has a fulfillment center in California, much closer to 90210 than Windsor, CT. Therefore, instead of us ordering the part and having it here in 1-2 days, then shipping it out across the country, it will ship directly from the CA warehouse and get to you much faster.
With this additional functionality, expect a separate shipping charge to have that part sent on its way. I notated this screenshot to point out a few things.
1 The bulk of the order will remain free to ship from here. Additional shipping options remain in place. This is the section that allows you to choose shipping options from the second warehouse.
2 These will change depending on vendor, you may have different options here depending on what parts you select to be drop shipped. The additional shipping charge is to the right.
3 That additional shipping charge is factored into your total, continue to check out to get the gears working.
While the California warehouse preps and ships its part of the order, we will have the rest of it put on a truck and sent over via conventional Fedex Ground. It’s that simple, we hope this new drop shipping capability makes ordering easier for our customers.
I don’t fully understand the additional charge for shipping from another warehouse… or the manufacturer warehouse. Would seem like a wash on your S&H . Particularly as your inventory on those items reduce over time. As you analyze whether or not this service gets much use, you may decide to drop the additional charge and just call it good customer service!
The additional shipping charge comes from the additional shipped package. We are covering things from our warehouse for free (on qualified orders), but splitting this up into two separate shipments in two separate places adds a very tangible extra cost, and this program is much more feasible if we don’t lose money on orders. I hope you understand, and since we just started it may change in the future, or as drop shipped order volume increases. Thanks for shopping!
