Announcing My Projects $500 Contest Winners!

When we launched My Projects a few months ago we hoped that visitors of eEuroparts.com would not only enjoy seeing the user created kits other people created, but also use the tool themselves to build their own Projects. We couldn’t be happier with the response. In fact, we got so many submissions in the first month that we decided to extend our promotional contest deadline to allow for even more users to submit their Project ideas.

The genesis for My Projects was the idea that the customer knows best. eEuroparts is staffed top to bottom with people who are experts on BMWs, Saabs, Volvos, Volkswagens, and more, but collectively our customers know more about their own cars than we ever could by ourselves. That’s why we wanted to give you the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with the eEuroparts community, and share you did. Thanks to your enthusiastic reaction to My Projects we’re now closing in on 100 Projects! We can’t thank you enough for sharing your know-how with us and the eEuroparts.com users.

Now onto the contest winners. As a brief reminder, to be eligible to earn a $25 gift card for adding a Project, and to be entered to win a $500 gift card for the best BMW, Saab, and Volvo Project, a Project had to contain the following elements:

  1. A minimum of two items; and
  2. A minimum value of $50 USD; and
  3. A relevant project title; and
  4. A detailed project description; and
  5. At least one (1) photo via Instagram.

We then judged every qualifying Project on the following criteria:

  1. Relevancy – is the Project something a person can and would replicate on their own?
  2. Description– does the Project description clearly explain the Project so that someone can complete the task on their own?
  3. Photography – are their relevant Project photos, and do they assist in completing the task described in the Project description.

Based on the above criteria we selected a Best Project for BMW, Saab, and Volvo. Thank you to everyone who created a Project, even if you didn’t win the grand prizes.

BMW

Winner: John Fitzgerald

My Project: 330 E46 spark plug coil replacement

John submitted multiple Projects, and this is the best of the bunch. Replacing spark plug coils is important, and John included a very detailed description and 10 beautiful photos to assist anyone in completing the task. Congratulations to John for an inexpensive and well documented Project!

Volvo

Winner: Daniel Aurigemma

My Project: Diagnosing and repairing overdrive – Volvo 240, AW70 / AW71 transmission

Daniel created a trio of great Volvo Projects, but his Diagnosing and Repairing Overdrive on a Volvo 240 is our favorite. We love the six detailed photos complete with arrows and labeled parts. In our opinion the best part of Daniel’s Project was its two step description, which contained instructions for not only repairing the overdrive but diagnosing the problem as well. Often figuring out what the problem is the hardest part, and this Project does an outstanding job of helping you identifying the issue. Thanks Daniel!

SAAB

Winner: Matthew Lorimer

My Project: Clutch Job and Seals

Matthew’s Project is not for beginners, but he took the time to describe a difficult and potentially confusing task in painstaking detail. Matthew’s Project contains a dozen different parts and a whopping 69 steps in his description! It sounds like a lot, and it is, but the description is so comprehensive that the Project is not overwhelming. Just follow the description step by step and you’ll complete it in no time. Thanks to Matthew for an incredibly complete Project.
